About Course

DIY Civil Rights Lawsuit: A Personal Guidebook on Filing Without a Lawyer If you’ve ever been a victim of police or other state actors violating your civil rights, you know how challenging it can be to find an attorney willing to take your case, even when the evidence is clear. This difficulty often arises due to attorneys’ personal relationships with the state actors involved, their overwhelming caseloads, lack of monetary incentive, or simply a reluctance to take on your case. This course is for those who have a strong civil rights case and wish to file a lawsuit on their own. You’ll benefit from the experiences of two pro se litigants who have successfully navigated three civil rights lawsuits and secured favorable settlements. Before you subscribe, please note: We are not attorneys and do not claim to provide legal advice. This course is a compilation of personal knowledge and legal experience acquired by me, Luis Sanchez from My Defense Guide, and Andre from Don Andre Investigations during our own civil rights cases. We created this course because we saw a genuine need to assist others in similar situations. We understand the frustration of wanting to hold wrongdoers accountable but lacking the resources for legal representation. I truly wish I had this guidebook when I started my lawsuits. It would have given me a clear idea of what to expect and the confidence that comes from knowing how other non-lawyers successfully managed their cases. Instead of endlessly searching for guidance, this course would have provided a roadmap with practical examples and insights, saving me time and effort in an already challenging process. Disclaimer: The materials provided in this course are for informational purposes only and should not be construed as legal advice or a substitute for professional legal counsel. This content is not exhaustive and does not cover all aspects of a civil rights action. The course serves as a guide based on the personal experiences and lessons learned from pro se litigants who have successfully navigated their own § 1983 civil rights cases. Always consult with a qualified attorney for legal advice specific to your situation.
